KNOWLEDGE PARK HELGELAND

INNOVATIVE AND BRAVE, AND GROWING

Since the first seed was sown 20 years ago, the local knowledge park itself has been a role model in the region, and the Helgeland Knowledge Park has grown both in size and reputation. By virtue of its ambitious vision of being a national model for interaction and regional development, KPH has helped to create a number of gold winners, and the biggest so far is the establishment of the giga sized battery cell factory in Mo i Rana.  But size is still not the most important thing for the knowledge park - it is innovation, competence growth and the interaction between municipalities, industries and between industry and academia that are the most important driving force. And KPH's mindset has spread like wildfire, and innovation processes in the region are happening today in a completely different way than a few years ago.

If you are an creative innovator, you should definitely have a chat with Kunnskapsparken Helgeland. The founders behind Freyr did so, and the collaboration ended with a success listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

There are many reasons why KPH is successful.
One is their skilled employees, the other is that KPH is located in one of the country's most industry-competent professional environments. In the span between artificial intelligence and robot technology on one hand, and solid industrial and skilled workshop environments on the other, there is hardly a challenge that can not be solved. The knowledge park's ability to connect innovative ideas to some of the country's strongest research and engineering environments is unique.

The knowledge park's ownership provides a strong industrial foundation, and this characterizes the company's activities.

Kunnskapsparken is a regional innovation company for the whole of Helgeland, and they have employees in Brønnøysund, Sandnessjøen, Mosjøen and Mo i Rana. KPH characterizes itself as a "link and facilitator for interaction between private and public activities, policy instruments, research and education".

KPH is part of SIVA's national network of innovation companies and an important regional tool for innovation and development for Nordland County Municipality, municipalities, business and the public sector. KPH's main goal is growth on Helgeland - in competence, value creation, attractiveness and well-being. To achieve this, the knowledge park has set the following sub-goals:

  • Increased level of competence and better access to relevant education and a competent workforce

  • Increased collaboration between business, entrepreneurs, knowledge environments, financiers and the public sector

  • More strong companies and increased sustainability, adaptability and value creation in working life

  • Helgeland will become more visible as an attractive region for people, investments and establishments

In Mo i Rana, the Helgeland Knowledge Park is located on the innovative floors above Campus Helgeland. Here, both the canteen and meeting rooms are shared with several active players in the region's competence development and business development.

In 2022, NHO and KS appointed Mo i Rana as  this year's host municipality for business development in the category municipality over 15,000 inhabitants! It is demanding to find a clearer signal to companies that want to establish themselves.
